Lovin’ Lassie

Lovin’ Lassie

If you have not figured it out I like animals…a lot, at least most animals. There are a few that either repulse or scare me.

I adore dogs…provided they’re not growling, salivating while charging in my direction. Dogs are probably my second favorite animal. Puppies are so cute and loveable they instantly throw me into baby talk mode. I imagine nothing looks sillier then watching a grown woman cooing and babbling to an animal like she’s lost her ability to speak in full intelligent sentences. But I don’t care. It’s how I show my love to GOD’s creatures and I believe they feel it. Puppies, kittens and most baby animals summon up that nurturing response in me almost like with human babies. You know what I mean, how a sweet newborn infant makes you want to kiss and hug it a zillion times.  I guess it’s natural for new life to make been-around-a-while life feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Dogs are intelligent creatures who aim to please. I like that…I like that a lot. They fetch and run and wag their stubby little tails in breathlesss anticipation doing whatever it takes to get a pat from their master. They want nothing beyond being fed and spending as much quality time as possible with you. They don’t talk too much or too little. They don’t require use of the remote control and you don’t have to cook for them…unless you want…which I don’t. They listen intently when you speak and require no closet space. Now that makes having a pet worthwhile.

Collies are my number one favorite canines. I admit, I was brainwashed by Lassie when I was growing up. If I were a dog I would be a Collie just like the fictitious Lassie, brave, strong, smart and loyal. I say fictitious because I learned years ago the acting canine was in reality several Collies and some were males. I’d be a female Collie for sure because I love being a woman. I think Collies look regal and they’re sturdy versatile animals. They’re gorgeous but more than mere show dogs. They are good protectors and good companions. Collies are territorial but not naturally vicious but try to harm their loved ones and they can quick turn into maneating guard dogs. Collies are a working or herding breed, I believe, which makes them energetic so they do well with children. To me they are perfect for a farm with wide open spaces. They are bred to herd and not attack non threatening animals…that means my chickens won’t have to fear.

I don’t get it…

We have become a society of hypocrites. The world has ushered in a Godless culture, kicking the soverignty of GOD to the curb and dismissing the Gospel. It is no longer accepted even in this country that what Christ Jesus taught is the absolute standard from a GOD Who makes the rules. We ceased standing on the scriptures as a pattern for how we should live. So I don’t get it when politicians or celebrity husbands are caught in adulterous situations why we are so critical. We don’t really care about morality, do we? If we did we wouldn’t have all this sex and immorality on television and movie screens. We wouldn’t allow the blatantly immoral music videos to saturate our young people’s minds. We would not condone the things God said were wrong if we cared about maintaining moral conduct. Where do we think a sense of morality comes from? It certainly doesn’t come naturally from our ability to govern our own wills. The present state of this country and the enitre world is proof of that. Historically mankind has always proved to be ill equipped to morally govern itself. Therefore I don’t get why we reject GOD as the only solid and sane Source of human governance. Since it’s obvious we don’t acknowledge or accept that reference then why do we get in a dither because some politician is found cross dressing, a sports celebrity has affairs or an actor has a baby outside his marriage? A politician is quickly brought to task for his sex life…why, when we shove sex at men all day long in vulgar and graphic ways. If a female is not sliding down a pole or wearing ten inch hooker heels she’s out the loop. Strip clubs, internet pornography and sex on television is readily accessible yet we expect men to stay faithful to their wives. Give me a break and I am not condoning or excusing infidelity. I’m just saying, if you don’t want a fat man to eat don’t sit him at the banquet table.

In this contemporary society women are encouraged to live in sexual freedom which certainly does not mean chastity, purity or wait till marriage. We have to thong it out, let it all hang out,, or push it up; anything that exsposes more of the body if we want to stay in style. Modesty is not the current catch word. Far too many children are willful and disrespectful not being  taught common courtesy or foundational values anymore. I say these things knowing my my opinions will be called old fashioned, out of date, maybe even puritanical or some other uncomplimentary adjectives. I don’t care because before I knew Christ I lived according to the culture of my time with it’s moral decline and I know it is not the way to go.

Once again I have to say, so why the shock and dismay when in our immoral society we find out about someone behaving immorally? Immorality is nothing new but the cultural immorality has consistently escalated through time. What was shocking a generations ago is now acceptable. What was totally unacceptable before is okay in this day an age. As we slide down the greased slope of anything goes we still have the unmittigated gall to get incensed about public people’s behavior in their personal lives. Morality and civility are out the window so why try and act like we care…because we don’t. This excludes, of course, people who are trying to live  Godly lives which is a small number in this country and probably throughout the world in comparison. We take rapid fire for believeing the Word of GOD and daring to think we should live by it. So I say to the cultural powers that be and those who follow them; you took GOD out the culture and this is what you got so live with it and quit acting like morality is an isssue you care about. It’s obvious you don’t so why bother? I just don’t get it…

Luke 6:42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.
