9/11’s Impact

September 11, 2001 is one of those indelible days in history for me personally and this nation. It was a day that will go down as a turning point for the political position and sense of well being we once had as citizens of the United States of America. We were attacked from within, on our own turf by people who were willing to give their lives to destroy us. A sobering and terrifying realization for us all who watched and heard the destructive events of that day. From the ashes of the many dead souls and toppled buildingmaterial came a giant shift in our thinking, how we did things and our general attitudes. 9/11 made us different in so many ways. Life in this neck of the continent pf America would never be the same…never.

Tragedies always have fallout. The more catastrophic the more impactful the fallout. In midst of the 9/11 horror, people turned to The Lord God like never before in my lifetime. A steel cross was made from the rubble and prominently displayed. Folks shed their daily irritations and minor gripes for important matters that normally would have been ignored in the hectic hustle and bustle of modern living. People were crying out to Christ Jesus, running to church and getting saved by the droves. And so they should have but it didn’t last. The fear eventually quelled and the spiritual fervor dissipated as life slowly melted back into its usual patterns. The Creator was no longer the focal point. Manmade systems and methods of fixing problems once again took center stage. Since then, lLaws have been passed that fly in the face of our Sovereign Father and now the Cross, the sign of our Redeemer’s sacrifice as well as other biblical/Christian references have been and are still being taken out of public spaces because they offend. It is considered non-inclusive. The impact of 9/11 has worn off and the repercussive behavior is startling to those of us who have not forgotten 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, numerous mass shootings and now other disasters that devastate. When will they learn? What will it take to open the eyes and hearts of men to give honor and awe to the God of all Creation. How much more needs to happen before we understand as a nation from where our help comes. The trite God bless America these politicians spout will not staid the wrath of Almighty God because of our apostasy and disobedience. His Merciful Hand of Protection and Provision is sliding off fast. As a nation, we must repent.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2 KJV
